EVO 2010

VICAS CE Day for Irish Practitioners

Ophthalmology CPD day

Providing 5 CVE credits from the Veterinary Council of Ireland

As part of the first European Veterinary Ophthalmology Conference to be held in Dublin, Friday 14th May has been selected to provide a high standard of ophthalmology CPD aimed at general practitioners.

Professor Peter Bedford from the Royal Veterinary College will discuss eyelid disease in small animals. He will review congenital and inherited conditions, helping us to understand breeding advice we should be giving. Eyelid surgery techniques, old and new, will be presented such as traumatic wound repair, and reconstructive surgery for correction of eyelid abnormalities. The differences encountered with feline patients will be reviewed. Dr Terry Grimes will share his considerable knowledge on eyelid and corneal conditions in a 1.5 hour session on large animal ophthalmology, including congenital conditions, eyelid repair and tumour removal. Current techniques in bovine enucleation will be reviewed.

This day should be attractive to small and large animal practitioners alike. A discount will be offered to members of Veterinary Ireland to attend the entire conference, which is a great opportunity to vets with an interest in ophthalmology to attend a European conference on our doorstep.

The full conference will provide 21.5 CVE credits. The day will be concluded with an optional social evening at the Jameson Whiskey Museum, a chance to relax after a day of learning.
