EVO 2010

VICAS CE Day for Irish Practitioners

Ophthalmology CPD day

Providing 5 CVE credits

For the first time, the European Veterinary Ophthalmology Conference is being held in Dublin from May 13th – 16th 2010. Friday 14th May is also a VICAS day, and will be interesting  for general practitioners  of all standards, with practical small animal and bovine ophthalmology talks.

Professor Peter Bedford from the Royal Veterinary College will discuss eyelid disease in small animals. He will review congenital and inherited conditions, helping us to understand breeding advice we should be giving. Eyelid surgery techniques, old and new, will be presented such as traumatic wound repair, and reconstructive surgery for correction of eyelid abnormalities. The differences encountered with feline patients will be reviewed. Our own Dr Terry Grimes will share his considerable knowledge on eyelid and corneal conditions in cattle, including congenital conditions, eyelid repair and tumour removal. Current techniques in bovine enucleation will be reviewed. This day should be attractive to small animal and bovine practitioners alike. A discount will be offered to members of Veterinary Ireland to attend the entire conference, which is a great opportunity to vets with an interest in ophthalmology to attend a European conference on our doorstep.

The full conference will provide 21.5 CVE Credits. The day will be concluded with an optional social evening at the Jamesons whisky museum, a chance to relax after a day of learning.
